Numbing cream

Many of our clients use numbing cream before their treatment, typically Emla or Tapin cream. However, we do not have the ability to provide it at the clinic, but it is available for purchase over-the-counter at pharmacies.

It is important to remember that if you use numbing cream, you need to wrap the tattoo in plastic for it to be effective. If you only apply the cream to the skin without covering it, there is a significant risk that the cream will be absorbed by your clothes, thus rendering it ineffective. Our advice is to use regular household plastic wrap to cover the cream and tape the edges to make it airtight. The heat generated under the plastic also helps activate the numbing cream.

Does it affect the result?

It is crucial that the skin is clean and free from any creams. Therefore, we always help you wipe off the cream and wash the skin to ensure that no residues are left, which would affect the result. So, the use of numbing cream will not impact the individual treatment or the final outcome after all treatments.

How effective is numbing cream?

The effectiveness of numbing cream varies from person to person. Based on our experience, about 30-60% of the pain usually diminishes with the use of numbing cream. If you feel very anxious about the pain during the treatment or know that you are particularly sensitive, numbing cream can be very helpful. Although most people choose not to use it, the treatment is always more pleasant the less it feels, so we always recommend using numbing cream if you ask us.
