Can a tattoo be removed with just one treatment?
In short, no, a tattoo generally cannot be removed with a single laser treatment.
Laser treatment with a new nanolaser is the safest and most effective way to remove a tattoo, but the number of treatments required depends on various factors. Typically, it takes between 5 and 10 treatments to completely remove a tattoo. However, for newly applied tattoos and those containing strong blue or green hues, it may take longer.
To achieve the best results from each laser treatment, we recommend waiting 12 weeks between treatments for regular tattoos and 8 weeks for eyebrow tattoos. The ink is removed very slowly by the body, and it can take a long time after a treatment before you see results. Therefore, there are no negative effects of waiting longer between treatments. The actual laser treatment itself, however, is very quick and usually lasts only between 1 and 10 minutes. With our laser, we can adjust both the speed and the size of the treatment area, meaning that the treatment time is significantly shorter compared to older lasers.
If treatments are performed with less than 8 weeks between sessions, some of the same ink particles that were treated in the previous session will be lasered again. This can make the treatment less effective and, in the worst case, may cause damage to the skin.
Factors That Affect the Number of Treatments:
- Quality: Professional studio tattoos vs. homemade tattoos or "stick and poke" tattoos.
- Your Immune System: How effectively it can transport away the lasered ink particles.
- Age of the Tattoo: Older tattoos fade faster than newly applied ones.
- Size: Smaller tattoos can be removed more quickly than larger tattoos.
- Placement: It is quicker for the body to transport the ink away when the tattoo is located closer to the heart.
- Colors: Black and red hues disappear faster than green and blue hues.
